Casa Escala has always been a family business
which has maintained generation after generation the
hand-made process of the preparation of cured meats and other high quality meat products.
The business was founded by the grandfather, Joan Escala Mila, in 1944 in Gava, his home town. When he was only 15 years old, his son Joan Salvador Escala Parellada worked already for the business and is the director since 1977.
In 2002 there was a new generation coming in: Jaunme Escala Arnau. After learning the business and working in the family shop for 15 years, he re-launched the business mixing tradition and innovation, offering both traditional products and new ideas brought from around the world.

In 2005 he received the "Premio Artesano Alimentario Innovador de Cataluņa" (Food Innovative artisan of Cataluņa award)
